Gentle Yoga & Sounds Healing Class

Thursday, October 1st 6:00-6:45pm

$15 - pay at the door (cash or venmo). Please arrive a few minutes early to set up.

Oak Ridge Presbyterian Church (2614 Oak Ridge Road)

What is Sound Healing?

Sound healing is a gentle yet powerful practice that uses vibration and frequency to support balance within the mind, body, and nervous system. Rooted in ancient traditions, instruments such as crystal singing bowls, Tibetan bowls, tuning forks, chimes, and gongs create soothing sound waves that help guide the body into a deeply restorative state.

As these healing vibrations move through the body, they can help calm the nervous system, shifting the body from “fight or flight” into a more relaxed parasympathetic state where healing and restoration can occur. This deep relaxation may help reduce stress, ease tension, improve sleep, and create a greater sense of emotional balance and inner calm.

Because the body is made up largely of water, sound vibrations travel efficiently throughout the tissues, creating a gentle internal massage at the cellular level. This stimulation may also support the lymphatic system — the body’s natural detoxification and drainage system — encouraging healthy circulation, movement of stagnant fluid, and the release of stored tension and energetic blockages.

Many people leave a sound healing session feeling lighter, grounded, refreshed, and more connected to themselves. Through frequency, vibration, and intentional rest, sound healing offers the body an opportunity to reset, restore, and return to balance.

Support Yoga for Educators

Yoga for educators is a non-profit organization that provides free yoga classes in the Triad area of North Carolina for what we believe to be the pillars of our community - our teachers.  We offer classes on site and tailor them to fit the needs of the staff - no experience necessary! We bring mats and blocks with us so that our students can come as they are. Classes are held before or after school hours for all teachers, admin and support staff. All are welcome - those proficient in yoga and those just wanting to have space for themselves for once.

To help raise funds, Hannah is offering donation based class in Oak Ridge this Summer. Classes are:

Monday 7pm at Oak Ridge Town Park atthe Amphitheater (6231 Lisa Drive) or

Saturdays at 8:05am Oak Ridge Swim Club

Testimonials

""I have been taking the Strength & Core and Yoga Pilates classes with Gwen for several months. Gwen is so welcoming to everyone who attends her classes! I already feel so much stronger, more flexible, and improving my balance. She excels at focusing on safe form, encouraging us to challenge our bodies while reminding us about working at our own levels.""

-Natalie, Yoga Participant

""I had yoga with Sarah at the church today. It was great. It focused on stretching a range of muscles and relaxation, which is what I'm seeking. If other sessions are like that, I will continue with yoga.""

-Susan, Yoga Participant

"The Yoga for Educators program has become a meaningful part of our school community. Each week, our staff look forward to this opportunity to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with themselves. The sessions have not only supported individual wellbeing but have also fostered a sense of connection and balance among our team. In a profession that often asks us to pour so much into others, Yoga for Educators reminds us to refill our own cup. We’ve noticed that participating staff feel more centered, focused, and re-energized; benefits that ripple out into their classrooms and interactions with students. We’re incredibly grateful for this partnership and for the intentional space it provides to nurture both the mind and body. It has truly strengthened our culture of care and wellness on campus."

-Alexis, Yoga Participant from Yoga for Educators

"As an educator, I know how easy it is to put others first and overlook my own well-being. Weekly yoga sessions provided to the staff here at my school have been a game-changer. Yoga provides a calm, supportive space to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with myself—something I didn't realize how much I needed until I started. What I appreciate most is that yoga doesn't require perfection—just presence. It is empowering to know that by taking care of myself, I am also showing up as a stronger, calmer, and more compassionate educator. Practicing yoga is a simple way to care for myself and the reset I need to bring my best self to my classroom.""
